Current openings
Postdoctoral positions: I am not currently recruiting off of grants; however I am always happy to help applicants obtain their own funding (e.g., NIH NRSA, NSF PRFB) to join the lab. Please send me your CV and a short note that summarizes your goals to start the conversation.
Graduate positions: Potential graduate students should send me a CV and a note on why my lab might be a good fit for your interests. I accept students through Ecology & Evolution and Cellular, Molecular & Microbial Biology graduate programs. I will likely be on sabbatical through summer 2026, and thus I am unlikely to take a graduate student in the fall 2025 interview cycle.
Undergraduate positions: The lab is pretty full, but I'm always open to chatting. Please send me an email with some information about yourself, including your GPA and a short summary of your goals.

Our lab in Missoula
We share an open lab space with several other research groups focused evolutionary and population genetic problems. This creates an exceptional intellectual environment for student and postdoc training. Missoula is a wonderful community with plenty of restaurants, breweries, culture, and fun things to do in addition to being surrounded by all of the natural beauty that Montana has to offer. We are short drives away from Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, the National Bison Range (see the main site header), and Flathead Biological Station. More locally, we are surrounded by a number of beautiful places to hike, swim, float, and fish. When a paper a paper or grant is rejected you might find me hiking Mount Sentinel, which is steps from the lab!
